How to expose media files that require registration when downloaded
To expose media files that require registration when downloaded:
- Edit a page.
- Insert the Composite.Media.FileDownloadTracker.ListFiles function ( Insert | Function), or add the following code:
Expand code - Specify its required parameter:
- Media folder: The folder in the media archive to expose files from. If it has files in subfolders, they will be listed, too.
- If necessary, specify these optional parameters:
- Notification Email: When specified, the email address is used to send notifications of each download to.
- Required Fields: Fields required to fill out on the registration form. The Name and Email are required by default.
- Optional Fields: Optional fields to be displayed on the registration form.
- Form Intro Text: Text that appears on the form to explain the use of the registration form.
- Test Mode: If selected, the registration form will always be shown.
Note: The fields that appear on the form are a combination of required and optional fields with the required fields having higher priority.
How to require registration on existing links
If you already have links on a page to download files from your media archive, you can also require registration on them by using the Composite.Media.FileDownloadTracker.AutoRegisterAll function:
- Edit a page with existing downloadable links.
- Insert the Composite.Media.FileDownloadTracker function ( Insert | Function), or add the following code:

How to set up email notifications of registrations
To receive email notifications of each registration, make sure you've:
- set up a mail host on your website
- specified a valid email address to receive notifications at (see above about the Notification Email parameter).
How to view download reports
- On the "Content" perspective, select "File Download Tracker".
- On the toolbar, click "File Download Tracker Report".
The report will open in the right pane. It contains information about each download including information on the date, the file name, the page the file was downloaded from, the user etc.
The long reports are split into pages 10 entries each. If you have more than one page to download files form, you can choose to filter the report by page.
How to export reports to Excel spreadsheets
- On the "Content" perspective, select "File Download Tracker".
- On the toolbar, click "File Download Tracker Report".
- When prompted, select whether to open or save the report.
